Letter From the President

Jim Leitch

First, thank you for the honor to represent our Association as NAPIM President. On behalf of all the NAPIM members, I want to thank Pat Carlisle from Joules Angstrom who served as our president for the past three years. Great job, Pat!

My goal  is to work diligently in cooperation with John, George and the Staff to provide value to both our Ink and TAM members. Also, it is my desire that our members learn more about the various services that NAPIM offers or to call John Copeland or me with questions where we CAN BE OF SERVICE TO YOUR BUSINESSWE might not have the answer however among ALL our members we probably can find the answer.  So let us build on the energy that was generated at the Annual  Convention and let NAPIM become an integral part of your business success in 2018.

Jim Leitch, President

   Technical Update

The NPIRI Raw Materials Data Handbook (RMDH) Vol. 4

The NPIRI Raw Materials Data Handbook (RMDH) Vol. 4 Pigments has been revised for 2018 and is now available for sale. RMDH Vol. 4 focuses solely on pigment used in the printing ink industry. The level of detailed, technical pigment-related data included in this volume is not available anywhere else. The datasheets provide concise information (e.g. durability, hue, CI number, etc.) that ink formulators need for precise ink formulation to exacting color standards. Contact [email protected]

 2018 Summer Course

The  2018 NPIRI Summer Course on Printing Ink Formulation is scheduled for July 15 -20, 2018 at the Sonoco Institute at Clemson University, Clemson SC. The Sonoco Institute provides unrivaled educational resources for expert instruction and demonstration for graphic arts technology. This is one of NPIRI's most popular and well- attended courses.

     2018 Tech Conference

The NPIRI Board held its annual NPIRI Technical Conference program development meeting on February 6, 2018 at NAPIM's administrative offices in Peachtree Corners, GA. This year's Technical Conference program theme will be "Developing for a Dynamic, Global Environment". The 2018 Technical Conference is scheduled for October 9-12 at the Pheasant Run Resort, Chicago, IL. In concert with the usual, cutting edge printing ink market, technical and regulatory sessions this year's event  will also include an in-depth focus on eInk and printed electronics.

BRC Program-Recertification/Webinar

The  NAPIM/NPIRI Bio/Renewable Content (BRC) registration program has been active since 2009. This program certifies the bio/renewable content of all types of printing ink. A webinar was held on February 26, 2018 to update printers, ink formulators and other interested parties about the current status of the program. Visit the BRC page on the NAPIM member resources website for detailed information.

 June 19th, 2018

Dear NAPIM Members,

This past spring the "103rd Annual NAPIM Convention" was held in Sonoma, California at the "Fairmont Mission Inn Resort & Spa". This was the first time NAPIM has held a convention in Northern California. The resort and countryside were absolutely beautiful.

The convention is designed to encompass business meetings, interesting offsite excursions, opportunities for networking and the NAPIM Awards dinner where industry people receive our industries highest awards for their contribution to our industry.
